Pipe cleaners

Real flowers

Flowers with tubes (think like orchids vs daisies) will look more like traditional leis. African Violets would be easier than roses.

Instructions

Pick flowers
Use pipe cleaner to thread through the center. It may rip and that's fine, just be aware the flower will probably fall off.

Story

My daughter has loved stringing beads since she was 18 months old watching me make jewelry. We were sitting in our backyard when she was playing with a pipe cleaning and then started picking flowers.

We use pipe cleaners to thread beads because it does not bend like string. She has surprised me and been able to use my small glass beads over her giant wooden beads.

DISCLAIMER: I learned after playing with this and sharing a photo that these flowers are poisonous. I strongly recommend every parent gets an app like "PictureThis" or books to learn what every plant in their backyard is.
